Entourage: The Complete Fourth Season Review

4.2 stars

Didn’t dig this one nearly as much as season three, mainly because there wasn’t enough of Dillon and Piven, my reasons for watching the show. Vince and Eric are pleasant enough, but really not that funny. And I watch this show to laugh, so the Medellin story line gets a little old due to its semi-seriousness. I also got more than a bit tired of the Walsh character, who might be accurate as a type but really isn’t very funny and grates pretty hard after a while.

Nonetheless, the writing is still strong and there are enough solid laughs to make it worth watching.

Entourage: The Complete Fourth Season Overview

Sure it would be great to have it all, but at what price? For Vince, Eric, Drama and Turtle, life in Hollywoods fast lane can be an intoxicating ride. In Season Four, in fact, Eric and Vince have taken on new roles as producers. Will their film be hailed as a critical masterpiece, or will it end up on the trash heap of broken Tinseltown dreams?

Entourage: The Complete Fourth Season Specifications

The fourth season of Entourage follows Vincent Chase’s quest for legitimacy (and Oscar) through his dream project, the Pablo Escobar biopic Medellin, whose development deal was the focus of season three. As expected, the production is riddled with troubles: Vincent (Adrian Grenier) and Eric (Kevin Connolly) clash over the ability of the film’s director, Billy Walsh (Rhys Coiro), to handle the grand scale of a film. Eric even flies in Oscar-winning screenwriter Stephen Gaghan (playing himself) to the shoot in Colombia at Billy’s request in order to rescue the script, only to send him home when Billy comes up with the ending himself. (“I’ve never had anyone pay me not to work before,” says Gaghan in a hilarious cameo. “It was nice.”) But as the pet project puts strains on their friendship, Eric finally takes a step off of Vince’s coattails to become a manager in his own right; his first step is snagging actress Anna Faris (as herself) as a client (in true Hollywood form, after she hits him with her car). As buzz on Medellin ebbs and flows, Eric and Vince’s agent, Ari Gold (Emmy winner Jeremy Piven) wheel and deal to lock in distribution and spin the behind-the-scenes drama to their advantage. Key to the negotiations is a swaggering, hotheaded studio magnate named Harvey Weinhald–the caricature is obvious–who threatens the life of any agent who double-crosses him. And that’s right where our boys land, but is it a gamble that will pay off? The fourth season, as always, is rife with celebrity cameos (Dennis Hopper, the late Sydney Pollack, Kanye West), but the Medellin plot pushes out any chance for other Entourage cast members to get a storyline (Johnny Drama gets a condo! Buys a hat!), which ultimately becomes a detriment considering that Medellin, as the big finale at Cannes attests, may not have been worth all the hype. Bonus features include commentary by the cast and creators, a panel discussion, and the Medellin trailer, which with its slo-mo, self-important music and bad makeup, is a gem. –Ellen A. Kim

Heroes: Season Four [Blu-ray] Review

I am a fairly NEW HEROES fanatic as I had neva seen a single episode until this past March when i purchased the DVD on sale in targer for .99 ( it was normally )so for .99 i figured even if the show sucked ( which many people who watched the show as again I personally had NOT told me it did ) what could it hurt.

I lit up a fat joint and procededd to watch Heroes season 1 by the end of the first disc ( first 2 eps ) i was huked literally on the edge of my seat as i wacthced nearly 11 episodes in one day and continued on the next day finishing off the first and spectauclar season.

I quickly purchased the 2nd season of HEROES the very next weekend excited as a kidd on christmas eve to watch what happend next. Once again litt up a fat ass joint and procedded to watch HEROES season 2. IMO the show picked up quickly rite where it left off with a great new plot about who and why the ” COMPANY ” was formed and someone being out to get all the founders IMO that was a great way too start season 2 , HowEver it was the payoffs and explanations that soured the expirence of the second season for me as i felt they were lazy and the writters took the EZ way out. OverAll i wouldnt say it was as bad as some other people have and still to this day do but it definitly fell short oft his fans expectaions

Season 3 again IMO was excellent not quite as good as Season 1 but very good none the less espically the second volume ” Fugitives” was awsome. The only complinte I have wit this season is the Finale as it was IMO subpar to be kind and the writter/director not showing us the fight scene between the nathan/peter/sylar was inexcuseable. Overall Sason 3 was definitly worth the watch

Now onto season 4 as i have Not yet seen it i can not comment on the quaility of season 4 I am intriguied despite the negitive reviews i continue to read and them ost obvious the show was cancelled due to poor rateings so how good could it be rite? Well despite all that i still purchased this highly priced DVD set and look foward to forming my own opinion on Heroe season 4

Police Woman – The Complete First Season Review

Hot!!!

Special Price Here

SOME SPOILERS IN HERE!!!

I’m in love with Angie Dickinson and I don’t care who knows it! For the past two weeks I’ve been watching Police Woman – Season 1 on DVD and let me just tell you all – it is frickin’ amazing. When I was a kid I remember thinking Angie was super cool and it didn’t hurt that my favorite aunt – Nauntie Dianne as I call her – thought she looked like Angie and even had the hair to prove it!

At the time Angie was doing a TV show called Cassie & Company which was basically Police Woman as a detective but I loved it and I loved her. The re-runs of Police Woman (which aired from 1974-1978) were usually on tv so I remember watching a few episodes but didn’t really remember anything about them. So when I found out this was being released, I hopped onto netflix and put those suckers in my q – Little did I know what brilliance would be spurting from my DVD player.

Originally broadcast as an episode of Police Story Angie played undercover police woman Lisa Beaumant. Now Police Story was created by and overseen by a real life police officer and the show was praised for its realistic take on the world of police officers and before Angie had even finished her one off episode the suits were talking SPIN OFF!

Angie had been around for years and years having made some pretty good films – check out Big Bad Mama for some real fun! – including the original Ocean’s 11 where she acted circles around that horse head Julia Roberts who played the role in the remake; anyhoos, Angie didn’t want to do tv but they asked her if she wanted to be a household name and she thought that was a pretty good idea.

When she agreed to the show she made one change, she didn’t like the character name and thought something spicier would be in order, apparantly what she didn’t think about is that the producers let her pick the name – but it all worked out cuz Pepper Anderson came to be and I can’t think of another name quite as cool for a police woman.

You may be wondering how I know all this crazy stuff – well its because Angie and her co-star Earl Holliman do commentary on tons of episodes and it is frickin’ hilarious. Angie who I always thought was classy tough proves it on these commentaries – we find out so much – like she hated night shooting, she had a clause in her contract to be home by 6 pm to be with her daughter and when the producers realized they were running late they’d pull out the popcorn and beer and film a bar scene (the cops hung out in a bar) and Angie would forget all about the time. Though she couldn’t drink too much beer (which she loves) because her eye lids got droopy… fascinating shizz huh?

but the most important thing is the show is really good – I thought it’d be kind of campy but not at all, full of “how much bread for the junk?” and “freeze turkey” type of things it’s a flip right out of the 70s and Ang looks faboo, not to mention tough – in the very first aired episode she blows a villian away with a shotgun!

I have come up with a brilliant idea to take the show and make it into a movie a la the Brady Bunch films where “undercover” Pepper Anderson still wears the crazy 70s clothes as she goes undercover in her dangerous scenes and hopes she isn’t “made out” to be a cop. I think it’d be great, but until then I’m going back to watch more Police Woman (and then re-watch with commentaries) next up is episode 10 “Flowers Of Evil” where crazed lesbians who run an elderly home are killing their residents! I can’t wait to hear what Angie has to say about that!

Police Woman – The Complete First Season Overview

Smart and sexy, tough and brassy. Meet Sergeant Suzanne “Pepper” Anderson, LAPD’s top undercover cop. A member of the Criminal Conspiracy Unit, Pepper works the wild side of the street, where she poses as everything from a gangster’s moll to a streetwalker to a prison inmate. Join Golden Globe-winner Angie Dickinson and guest stars Cathy Rigby, Larry Hagman, Pat Morita, Bob Crane and Philip Michael Thomas for 22 episodes and the 2 hour pilot of explosive crime-fighting action and excitement in POLICE WOMAN: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON.

Police Woman – The Complete First Season Specifications

After holding her own opposite heavy hitters like Frank Sinatra (Ocean’s Eleven) and Lee Marvin (Point Blank), Angie Dickinson earned the right to top billing. For four years, Police Woman gave the cool blonde that chance and, as she admits in the DVD commentary, the idea of becoming a household name was a big attraction. (It worked.) Sgt. Suzanne “Pepper” Anderson, a two-year police veteran is first introduced, as Lisa Beaumont, in Police Story’s season finale, which opens this five-disc set. In “The Gamble,” Pepper proves she has what it takes to handle undercover work as she foils both a prostitution ring and a gambling racket. Airing in the coveted slot after The Rockford Files, the gritty, yet glamorous Police Woman became a top 20 hit. In the season premiere (“The End Game,” actually the fourth show), Pepper is joined by the rest of the vice squad: Italian-speaking Irishman Lt. Bill Crowley (Earl Holliman, taking over from Bert Convy) and Police Story holdovers Royster (Charles Dierkop) and Styles (Ed Bernard). Together the four were as tough on crime as they were fierce about fashion. Among hundreds of groovy get-ups, sartorial standouts include Royster’s patchwork cap, Styles’ suede jacket, Crowley’s plaid sports jacket, and Pepper’s studded pantsuit. First year guest stars include TV vets, like Robert Vaughn (“Blast”), Patti Duke and John Astin (“Nothing Left to Lose”), and Dickinson’s Big Bad Mama co-star William Shatner (“Smack”). Police Woman also provided a showcase for up-and-comers like Kathleen Quinlan (“The Beautiful Die Young”) and Phillip Michael Thomas (“It’s Only a Game”)–as a character named “Sonny” no less. (In the show’s fourth season, another up-and-comer named Michael Mann would direct an episode.) In 2002, TV Guide voted Dickinson the sexiest TV star of all time after Diana Rigg and George Clooney. –Kathleen C. Fennessy

One Tree Hill: The Complete Seventh Season Review

Hot!!!

Special Price Here

One Tree Hill remains one of the best shows on television even in it’s seventh season and with the departure of Hilarie Burton and Chad Michael Murray.
It’s fourteen months into the future and the season starts with a scandal that could derail Nathan’s (James Lafferty) basketball career. Brooke (Sophia Bush) continues her work at Clothes Over Bros, along with her mother, Victoria (Daphne Zuniga) whom she had just reconnected with at the end of season 6. She also deals with her bumpy romance with Julian (Austin Nichols) who becomes a regular this season. Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti) dives back into her music career and Millicent (Lisa Goldstein) spirals out of control as the season progresses, ruining her relationship with Mouth (Lee Norris), who eventually begins a small romance with Lauren (Allison Munn) after Skills (Antwon Tanner) leaves town for a job. Finally, Dan (Paul Johannson) is now the host of his own talk show, with Rachel (Danneel Harris) as his wife. Newcomers include Alex (Jana Kramer), an actress who has her eyes on Julian. Also new in town are Clay (Robert Buckley), Nathan’s agent and Quinn (Shantel Vansanten), Haley’s sister, who’s just left her husband and has a passion for photography, Miranda (India de Beaufort) Haley’s new sassy manager and Grubbs, the new bartender at Tric with a secret talent that has nothing to do with mixing drinks.

Other guest stars during the season include Taylor James (Lindsey Mckeon), who first appeared in season 2, as well as Kate Voegele, Stephen Colleti, Bess Armstrong (Haley’s mother), Mitch Ryan (Brooke’s model, Alex), Gregory Harrison and Amanda Schull (as Clay’s wife & stalker tennis player Katie).

All in all, the season stays true to the show and continues to impress with fresh, funny and many times emotional and dramatic storylines that made the show the hit it is.

Don’t miss out on this season. Even though Hil and Chad are gone, it’s still staying strong without them.

One Tree Hill: The Complete Seventh Season Overview

The journeys of those who hail from the town of Tree Hill have been vast, from Nathan and Haley’s first kiss to marriage, a son and, most recently, Nathan’s return to the basketball court; from Brooke’s dedication to her clothing line, Clothes over Bros, to opening herself to the possibility of love with Julian; and from Mouth’s battle to win back Millie to Dan’s battle to win back his family — and his life. Now in its seventh season, One Tree Hill continues to explore the journeys of its beloved characters, while seamlessly introducing new favorites. As the series jumps ahead 14 months, these new relationships infuse the history of Tree Hill and change the lives of those who live there. Through it all, these friends and family members realize that life always leads you right where you belong.

Army Wives: The Complete Season 2 Specifications

Lifetime’s Army Wives is one of TV’s most satisfying dramas. And why not? Like the best hospital or police procedurals, the show portrays the imminent threat of death; like the best workplace shows, it features a wide variety of characters thrown together in a small, unforgiving environment–and lets the drama unfold. Season Two shows how the characters have grown on the Army base–flawed though they may be, and always trying to make the world (or their own marriages) a better place. There’s more infidelity (say it ain’t so, Frank!), more flirtations, more blossoming and unlikely friendships, and a lot more true drama. Standouts in this season include the spunky Sally Pressman (Roxy) who plans to reopen the Hump Bar after last season’s shocking tragedy there. Kim Delaney and Catherine Bell also give the cast its strong bone structure, though their characters experience fewer peaks and valleys this season. Sterling K. Brown is also especially compelling, as a man torn between commitment to country and to love. Fans will devour the extras on the boxed set, including fascinating background information on how the U.S. military has cooperated with the production, in ways large and small; interviews with key cast members on how they have connected with their characters; and a goofy bloopers reel. –A.T.
